LEARNIS Academy

The skills you were expected to already have

Work asks constantly for communicating, organising, collaborating, taking responsibility, handling problems, setting priorities and getting on with people who are nothing like you. Nobody is hired for those and everybody is judged on them. They can be learned — but more than that, they have to be kept in training, which is why this is a continuing path rather than a course you finish.

Why attending, and not a course

A two-day workshop on communication produces two days of better communication. What changes behaviour is returning to the same abilities over time, trying them at work in between, and coming back with what happened. The Academy is built on that rhythm: sessions that combine content, examples, exercises and application, with the specific aim of turning a competence from something you can define into something you use on a difficult Tuesday. It is the perfect environment to train the soft skills that are key in every job.

Two kinds of evening

The programme alternates between two formats, and the alternation is deliberate. The training sessions work on the transferable abilities most useful in ordinary work. The other evenings are interviews with entrepreneurs and professionals who bring their own experience — how leadership, responsibility, communication and decision-making actually behaved in a real situation, including the ones that went badly. Theory and account, in turn, so that neither is left doing all the work.

How access works

As with every LEARNIS Academy programme, access comes with a subscription to LEARNIS Magazine: subscribers take part at no further cost. What is running, and when, is handled by the Learnis organisation in your country.
