About Us

Responsibility, growth, contribution

Three words, chosen after a long and deep internal audit. They are the standard Learnis agrees to be judged against. What follows is what each of them means for us and their implication at every level.

Responsibility

The capacity and the commitment to answer for your own actions and decisions, taking on their consequences — individual and collective.

The Latin respondere, to answer, is exactly right: to be responsible is to be able to give an account of yourself, clearly, to someone entitled to ask.

In practice it means each person answers in the first person, rather than waiting for someone else to. It means being the author of your situation rather than its victim, and bringing solutions instead of reporting problems. It means taking your own responsibilities and not other people's — which is the part usually left out, and the part that keeps organisations sane.

For the company it implies transparency, internally as much as externally, and a culture built on clear roles and mutual reliability.

Growth

A continuous process of development, in quantity and in quality: the organisation expands, and the people in it become better at what they do.

From the Latin crescere, to increase, to develop — a word that carries the sense of natural, gradual, sustainable expansion.

Growth means improvement of the service, constant updating, higher standards for the team, and results that can be observed. It is also personal: learning sits inside the idea of growth, not next to it.

For the company it means balancing short-term objectives against long-term development, and treating uncontrolled expansion as a risk.

Contribution

The active, deliberate part a person takes in a shared result: energy, skill and attention put at the service of something larger than their own position.

From cum and tribuere, to give together — the origin already contains the idea of shared responsibility.

Contribution is not the same as helping, and not the same as being polite. It means doing more than the minimum asked, and it means measuring yourself by the difference made to someone else's outcome rather than by your own.

It is also the clearest way to measure growth: you can see how far you have come by what you are now able to give.

For the company it means valuing initiative over compliance, and treating a collaborative culture as an operating requirement rather than an atmosphere.

Where the values are meant to reach

The three values are not confined to working hours. They operate on three horizons: the work itself, the research and knowledge that grow out of it and support it, and the life of the person doing it.

That last one is the reason the group is careful about how it states them. A company that tells people how to live has overstepped. A company that admits its values reach that far, and can be held to them, has said something true about what it is asking.

Three values, and the two lines under them

The three Values are the foundation of the Group's philosophy and commitment.

From them, two statements guide Learnis action. The first is what the group believes being the enabling factor: "Success to learning" is the prerequisite to achieve anything of value in life.

But this, in turn, leads to the deep promise of the brand: success comes out of learning, not around it.

The second stetament is what Learnis promises anyone who starts a path: "Learn to prosper".

Prosperity is a concpet coming from the biological world. Prosperity means the ability to exchange real value with the world, with abundance.

True prosperity hardly affects just one aspect of life: it overcomes silos, positively contaging all the areas of life.

And, more importantly, you cannot prosper alone.

True prosperity comes from the armony of your ecosystem: it is always shared.

What the values commit us to

  • Answering in the first person, rather than escalating or waiting
  • Improving the service continuously, and updating the people who deliver it
  • Setting expectations at a distance that is ambitious and still reachable
  • Doing more than the minimum the role requires
  • Treating growth that outruns the organisation's capacity to sustain it as a problem, not a result

Learn to prosper

The promise the group makes is that learning is the way to prosperity — not success in the narrow sense, but the ability to exchange real value with the world, generously and in every area of life. Prosperity in that sense is never only individual: like in the natural world, it holds only when everyone in the chain is doing well. That is the ambition the three values are meant to serve.
